Having a Wedding? get Insured!
Just Got Engaged? You should consider purchasing Wedding Event insurance .
Is wedding insurance really necessary or or more costs you could do without? Well, as a newly wed here is here is my first piece of advice . Try not to think about the cost , this is a once in a lifetime day , which ought to be the happiest moment of your life and the events of the day will remain for ever in your memory .
My second warning is Get Wedding insurance!
The average UK Wedding expenditure is about £15000 but , you can pick up a fairly robust premium for a cost about £30 for basic cover . With prices as low as this this should be a no brainer!
After you have arranged the ceremony, booked the photograhers and other services, buy your wedding cover and then start paying your deposits .
Get it done early and it is one less worry . Believe me! there will be enough other things to worry about during the build up and on the day !
Even if you are getting married ‘on the cheap’ If you are thinking of having just a small wedding then a specialist policy may suit you better – you may be planning a small, intimate affair, but it is probably fair to assume that you will be purchasing some of the most expensive dresses, outfits and meals you have ever bought .
As with any Insurance it is important to understand what could happen to your wedding before purchasing additional cover. One suggestion is to make payments on credit card and if you can pay the balance immediately . Any payment between £100 and £30,000 are covered through section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act if you do not receive the service .
Also many home contents insurance policies increase cover for a month either side of the set date of anyone living in the house to cover wedding gifts and sometimes goods purchased for the wedding. Check your policy documents for details .
What you really need to be looking for in your wedding insurance policy is cover for loss of damage to the clothes , such as the wedding dress, as well as presents, the wedding cake, the wedding rings, flowers and gifts for the guests .
Wedding Insurance covers a set time – from seven days before to 24 hours after for wedding presents , for example – but this will vary depending on the policy . Also you’ll be relying on wedding services from a range of suppliers so ensure your wedding insurance can cover any extra costs you might make up to the policy limit if things don’t go exactly to plan.
Wedding insurance also covers you for deposits you can’t recover or the cost of arranging alternatives if suppliers go bust (Don’t forget that your credit card covers you if you have used it so do not pay an unnecessary premium if you do not need to.)
An important cover within wedding insurance isliability to the public or damage caused to a third party. This may be covered by your home insurance or the hotel’s own cover etc; but this can be quite important public liability is essential if you have the wedding in a public place such as a beach or park etc .
Many policies offer additional areas of cover, some policies cover legal protection , personal accident or even stress counseling but you should add these extras only if you really need them.
It is very easy to purchase Wedding Insurance online, and you can save money both by shopping around and by visiting a specialist events insurance company, who often have better value for money products with a wider range of wedding insurance covers .
